Delivered for Ashura, Muharram 9th, 2017
Rabka-Zrdroj - City of Children of the World
Rafal Siepak, born January 16th, 1985 in Rabka-Zdroj, is a social entrepreneur, creative expedition leader, storyteller, and multimedia artist. His work spans travel journalism, software development using Ruby on Rails, and the use of AI in visual and musical production. Rafal is passionate about exploring new ideas and places, blending art and technology to create unique narratives and experiences for individuals, teams, and organizations.
Rafal studied at prestigious universities such as Maastricht University, Rotterdam School of Management, University of Barcelona, and the Norwegian School of Economics. He graduated with a Bachelor in International Business and a Double Master's Degree in International Management (CEMS) and specialized in self-efficacy, framing effect and financial management,
which touches upon biased consciousness and schizophrenic mirage following studies of prof. Bandura, Kahneman and Tversky. Peace be with them.
...first, it was Albert, not Arnold. In addition, I would like to thank my friend Prof. Christian Kerckhoffs, a statistician from Maastricht University, who reviewed my statistical analysis; and my CEMS colleagues, Jonathan Malmberg and Benjamin Schultheis, who helped me set up the experiment. In fact, a team of seven people worked on that project.
I would also like to extend my gratitude to Tomasz Domogala (from TDJ), my high school classmate, who first inspired me to think about confidence during our school days. At the time, it was confidence—later, I came to understand it as self-efficacy. Last, but not least Diana Ryduchowska, who always looked at my projects and provided feedback. Thank you Diana!
During his studies, he served as the president of the CEMS–UNICEF "School for Africa" project and participated in a seminar at the European Space Agency.
After completing his studies, Rafal focused on social entrepreneurship. He co-founded the SENStation.io platform, aimed at promoting social entrepreneurship across the 29 CEMS universities worldwide through organizing two editions of the Global Social Business Competition,
where he worked with organizations such as Transparency International, CARE International, Fairtrade International, McKinsey & Company, Societe Generale, Earth Capital fund, and CEMS – Global Alliance in Management Education, and many individual social entrepreneurs.
Rafal has also been invited as a speaker and panelist at conferences and events hosted by top academic institutions such as IESE Business School, ESADE, and the University of St. Gallen.
At ESADE and St. Gallen, he also contributed to the Brave Mind award, which is given to students for outstanding achievements in social entrepreneurship field.
In 2013, he fell in love upon both-side promises and is inspired on a daily basis by Joanna Klimczak, who resides in Canada and whose work and network profiles have significantly influenced his thinking and projects in a positive way through improved version of SENStation.io project and focus on UN Sustainable Development Goals.
In 2019, Rafal was diagnosed with an incurable illness: Paranoid Schizophrenia. Since then, he has been under medication. He spent a total of four months in psychiatric hospitals during two separate episodes.
The first episode (2019) was triggered by financial stress and a personal conflict, as he struggled to pay bills and experienced a deep quarrel with his father, after which he was diagnosed with schizophrenia.
The second episode (2021), more abstract in nature, involved intense visual and cognitive hallucinations, which Rafal describes as seeing “clones of his mother” — a surreal experience that emerged after years of following the professional network of Joanna Klimczak.
During his hospitalization, he witnessed extreme conditions, including patients restrained in metal chains. These profound and painful experiences led him to critically question the foundations and ethics of the current mental health care system.
Currently, Rafal is looking to collaborate with corporate clients unafraid to explore and understand the implications of framing effects and schizophrenic mirage states—concepts that reflect both cognitive bias and alternative mental frameworks, often neglected in mainstream strategy and leadership development.
Driven by a passion to connect people through creativity, Rafal also launched art-focused initiatives such as the siepak.com gallery and the inmysecretlife.com project, which develop artistic and multimedia projects on a global scale.
His adventurous spirit led him to take part in an expedition to Mount Elbrus (5642m), and to climb and name a previously virgin mountains in the Pamir region.
He is passionate about human connection, cultural understanding, and spiritual unity across faiths.
